Blackstock's Plantation Battlefield

Blackstock was the site of a major battle between Patriot Brigadier General Thomas Sumter and British Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton that ended in an ºÚÁÏÉç victory. At the time of the battle, the Blackstock’s log-built house, barns, and outbuildings were on the site, which provided unchinked openings through which the ºÚÁÏÉç forces fired from during the battle. None of these buildings remain today, but visitors can still see the sharp hill and 50-acre pasture that sloped down to a shallow stream. In addition, there is a granite Blackstock’s Battlefield Monument on the site detailing the battle.
